Scanning Technician

Nicholas G. Clement

In the IVL, I work primarily as a Scanning Technician Specialist and content provider. As a Scanning Technician, my daily activities are to scan and edit objects in virtual space while keeping a current photo log of specimens that come through the lab. As a content provider, I conduct research on the archaeological and anthropological material we work with as well as prospect possible future applications in non-invasive archaeological research.

My main interest in Archaeology is Native American petroglyphs and pictographs; specifically, aspects of early astronomy systems and regional or cultural specificities found therein. This subject matter will likely guide much of my post graduate research. In conjunction to that, I am also very interested in prehistoric technologies. I am an avid flint knapper, and I currently head a flint knapping club in the Anthropology department here at ISU.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology here at ISU, and I am currently working toward my Master's degree in Archaeology. Though my academic interests are many and varied my future goals are to imbed myself in archaeological research both within the lab and in the field.
